Big Flower Head Band

Here is another head band for little girls. This one is best for girls a bit older than mine but I still made it for her because its just so cute, and I love big flowers on tiny heads.

I didn't make the head band part, it was bought. For the flower I used silk and its best if its a light weight silk that way the flower stands up more.

Cut out 10 flowers in this shape. (I couldn't upload a file here to print of the flower to use as a pattern but if you want one email me and i'll send you one).
Fold it in half and in half again. Thread all the fowers onto the thread through the center.

Once they are all on turrn them in differnt directions so that it looks like a flower. My silk was a bit heavy for this flower so that's why the petals in the center don't stand up. Yet.

With a hot glue gun put some glue on the bottom of the flower and glue it to the head band. And then cut a strip of felt and glue that on in the inside of the head band.

And since my petals didn't stand on their own, I put a few dots of glue in different places to glue the petals together to help them stand up.

And it looks so darn cute.

And she actually likes it too. She puts it on, looks in the mirror and smiles at herself.

Turn A Skirt And Shirt Into Dress

At the thrift store I found a skirt that looked like it was hand made it wasn't very pretty or fit me but I liked the material and colors. In my closet I had a coral color shirt that matched the skirt. And since summer is on its way I decided that another summer dress wouldn't hurt.

Its very simple and easy to do and there is nothing to it.

Baby Head Band

After being very busy the past week and not being able to sew what I had started I decided to make something easy that I knew I could start and finish in the same day. And to make myself feel better that I finished something. I had a lot of material laying around that was used for curtains by my sister and she gave it all to me. I've been looking for ideas to make out of the curtains and this head band came to mind.
Originally I was going for a very big flower but it didn't turn out so big.

Last Minute Easter Decor Idea

If you actually see this post before Easter it might be of some use to you. If not I'm sorry for thinking of it so late. I was thinking of a gift to make for my husband for Easter, and though this would work great because if he doesn't like it then I will enjoy it. And it can be use as a decoration. 3 in 1.

I never really liked to color eggs for Easter and this year is the first year that I colored eggs after getting married, and I only did it because this idea came to me. This egg filled vase looks really good just as a decoration or even for a center piece.

All you do is put a skinnier vase inside the large vase to hold the flowers and put the eggs around. I added the moss just to fill the gap but it looks good without it also.

And husband was happy and surprised to receive a gift. I guess I set the bar high. hah.

Ruffled Scarf

Last weeks cold weather has brought out the scarfs again and looks like they are not going anywhere this week also. I'd like to share this awesome pretty scarf that I knitted. And the best part is that it doesn't have to be used to keep warm it can be used as an accessory and looks pretty good.

They are made from a special netted yarn, and come in many different colors.

And there are a bunch of ways to style it.

Do you like it? Do you want one? If your interested in getting one write me an email and we'll talk.  everythinghandmade.blog@gmail.com

Tulip Hat Perfect for Summer

Getting ready for summer yet? We sure are. Especially with the nice weather that we've been getting its hard to believe that it's only March. Even thought this nice weather is not here to stay we were still prepared for all the sunshine.

Since this is the first real summer for our baby girl we had to take special precautions, like covering up for the first couple of days and wearing a cute little sun hat. And I say "real" because last summer she was only 6 months and couldn't sit or crawl she basically slept through it all. Ha.

So we needed a hat for these sunny days to cover our little head so that our little one wouldn't get too much sun. And I found the perfect pattern for a tulip hat  here. I followed their directions and then tweaked it a little in the end to make different straps. I wanted a snap on my straps so that it would be harder for little fingers to take off. Don't let a snap closure intimidate you, they are easier than you think.
